Macaroni Kid: Claudia, I love party planning and get very into themes and decor. I am so excited to hear more about Tie a Bow Rentals! How did you start a local business while raising 3 young kids!?

Claudia, Tie a Bow: I remember it well, I was planning my daughter’s 1st birthday party, running around to so many different stores trying to find decorations and food displays to fit the party theme I was envisioning for the party. When the party was over, I ended up with items that I would probably never use again.  It dawned on me, what a great opportunity for me to make this easier for other parents; I was inspired to open my own party-theme rental business and call it Tie a Bow, LLC

In 2018 while 8 months pregnant with my 3rd child, Tie a Bow was launched with the description of an online rental store that offers hand-picked food displays, decorations, backdrops, and small furniture; rentals are perfect for dessert tables and savory food stations. Renters can shop by item or theme or category, find specs, material, color, and style of each and every piece.

Macaroni Kid: How did the pandemic affect your business?

Claudia, Tie a Bow: When the pandemic started back in March 2020, all my rentals were postponed. The business was shut down for the time being and I used the opportunity to focus on my family (which I believe most people did). I enjoyed the fact that my husband who works 14 hours a day as the owner of Flippin' Out in Nutley was home with us more than usual. We had to buckle down financially to make it all work, and we managed. I truly believe that after this pandemic people are going to find a reason to start celebrating even the little things. I truly believe that people will choose to celebrate more at home with family and friends as opposed to at catering halls, and that’s exactly where Tie a Bow comes in! Tie a Bow will help people make their celebrations at home even more special.

Macaroni Kid: What separates you from the party planner businesses?

Claudia, Tie a Bow: Tie a Bow provides rentals to party planners and directly to families, both. I  am happy to recommend some amazing party planners that I have worked with in case the client is not interested in DIYing.

Macaroni Kid: the most asked question is always "when do you have time to work" between 3 kids, a pandemic and remote learning?

Claudia, Tie a Bow:It is very challenging to run a business, a house, and take care of 3 children all at the same time with a husband who works long hours each day, but I wouldn’t change a thing. My most productive times are during the 8 hours per week when my kids are in preschool. It’s my time to get things done for the house and business. Once the kids are asleep, is my time to buckle down each night and focus on my business. I am positive that I am no different than any other mom out there. We just learn from our conquests and mistakes and figure out how to make all work!

Claudia Huebner grew up in Brazil and moved to the USA 12 years ago when she decided that she needed to learn English and was determined to learn English by moving to the US and immersing herself right into the culture. As a foreign citizen, one option she chose to make her way to the states was to work as an Au Pair (live-in babysitter) and Claudia matched with an amazing family that lived in New Jersey. She packed her bags, left her life behind, and began her story here. After 6 months of living in the US, Claudia met her husband; fast forward 12 years, they are now married with 3 children, and still reside in New Jersey.
