Bnai Keshet Makes Religious School Free for K - 2

By Jessica Kline, Publisher and Editor, Macaroni KID Clifton-Montclair May 16, 2023

Today, Bnai Keshet announced it would offer free tuition for its Bet Midrash (religious school) for all member families with children in kindergarten through second-grade beginning in the Fall of 2023. Bnai Keshet (Children of the Rainbow), in the heart of Montclair NJ, is a vibrant congregation affiliated with Reconstructing Judaism that values its members' diverse backgrounds, identities, and beliefs and its shared historical traditions.  Moving to free tuition is part of Bnai Keshet’s commitment to welcoming the broadest spectrum of Jewish families and removing financial barriers to Jewish belonging and learning.

We recognize that tuition costs may be a barrier for families with young children, but Jewish identity-building in the context of synagogue life should not wait, said Rabbi Educator Ariann Weitzman, who leads the synagogue’s educational programs. We are delighted to expand access for our members with little ones and look forward to welcoming new families. Bnai Keshet’s innovative and progressive educational programs include immersive Hebrew experiences, hands-on learning, explorations through art, connections to nature, jubilant singing and prayer, and meaningful opportunities to connect with family, tradition, and the broader Jewish community. Bnai Keshet also offers a flexible, fair-shares dues policy for all members.
