Soccer Shots is an engaging children’s soccer program focusing on skill-building and character development – and of course, having fun! Our caring team positively impacts children’s lives on and off the field through best-in-class coaching, curriculum, and communication. We have three different programs to meet the developmental needs of children aged 2-8.
Soccer Shots West Essex is owned by John Petrillo, who grew up playing soccer on the Jersey Shore and first started coaching during summers in high school and college. That experience instilled a deep passion for working with youth and positively impacting their lives. For the past 25 years, he has worked in youth development as a teacher, program director, education researcher, and nonprofit leader. He holds a master’s degree in education from Rutgers University, focusing his research on informal learning and development outside of school, specifically in after-school sports and recreational programs.
OUR PROGRAMS
Soccer Shots offers three different programs to meet the developmental needs of children aged 2-8. Programs are offered in childcare centers, preschools, schools, and public locations.
MINI | 2-3 Year Olds
Soccer Shots Mini is a high-energy program introducing children to fundamental soccer principles, such as using your feet, dribbling, and the basic rules of the game. Through fun games, songs, and positive reinforcement, children will begin to experience the joy of playing soccer and being active.
CLASSIC | 3-5 Year-Olds (Pre-K)
Soccer Shots Classic utilizes creative and imaginative games to focus on basic soccer skills like dribbling, passing, and shooting. We also highlight positive character traits each session such as respect, teamwork, and appreciation.
PREMIER | 5-8 Year Olds (K-2nd)
Soccer Shots Premier focuses on individual skill, fitness, and sportsmanship, providing an opportunity for children to be challenged through fun games and team interaction. Children will also be introduced to competition in a developmentally appropriate manner.
