On February 21, 2024, six-year-old Maya Ciprian was sent home from kindergarten at the Brookdale Elementary School in Bloomfield, New Jersey after suddenly feeling dizzy and vomiting. Minutes after arriving home, she suffered a seizure and was admitted to the hospital for a series of tests.
On March 7, 2024, Maya’s parents, Tiffany and Claudio, received the devastating news that a biopsy revealed a high-grade aggressive brain tumor. Maya was able to have most of the tumor resected but will require a long road of treatment, including chemo and radiation.
The outpour of support from the community, friends, and family was beyond Maya’s parent’s imagination. This also led to the idea to host a special event to raise funds to help the family in their difficult journey. Family friend and lead singer of 80’s cover band Rubix Kube, Devon Marie, organized several of her industry contacts to perform at Rockin’ for Maya, a live music benefit at Just Jake’s in Montclair, New Jersey on Sunday, April 14 from 12 pm – 4 pm.
“The news was beyond heart-wrenching, and I wanted to do something special for this beautiful family, so I looked to what I know best. Through music, we are gathering the community, friends, and family to help raise critical funds for Maya’s recovery. We are rockin’ for Maya”, said Devon Marie.
Confirmed headliners feature rising metal band Adam and the Metal Hawks and 80’s cover band Rubix Kube. Special guests to perform include American Idol and Broadway star Constantine Maroulis and other artists to be announced. Door prizes include signed memorabilia, guitars, drumsticks, show tickets, and more.
Tickets are $30 at the door and kids 6 and under are free and can be pre-purchased at Rockin' for Maya. 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the Ciprian family.
