It’s spring and you know what that means...baseball season! The excitement is building as Montclair Rec Little League gears up for its much-anticipated opening day extravaganza on Saturday, April 20th at Edgemont Park.
This free event promises a fun-filled day for families and baseball enthusiasts, featuring a parade, carnival games, baseball games, and food options.
The festivities open at 11:30 am at Edgemont Park. Our 12:30 pm parade gets things started. All of our Montclair Rec Little League baseball teams featuring about 140 kids in full uniform will march with coaches, cheered on by enthusiastic supporters.
We’ll end the parade on the southeast diamond, where we’ll formally kick off the season with some short remarks and acknowledgments, and a rousing performance of the national anthem.
The celebration continues with an exciting performance by Hillside Elementary School’s famous “Drums of Thunder” ensemble, and carnival games including a bounce house for energetic littles, a high striker (to test your strength!), and a dunk tank (come dunk your favorite coach).
All games are free, though donations are welcome and will be split with Montclair Emergency Services for Hope (MESH), a local non-profit organization dedicated to providing basic and essential services to Montclair’s most vulnerable homeless adults and families.
Enjoy carnival attractions (bounce house, anyone?), plus food for purchase (Little Pizza Heaven, Stuff by SJ baked goods, plus hot dogs and concessions).
And, of course, lots and lots of BASEBALL...cheer on our players with games on both fields at 1:30 pm, 3:30 pm, and 5:30 pm.
