Top 6 Essex County, NJ Playgrounds

Your Guide to the Best Northern NJ Playgrounds

By Jessica Kline, Publisher + Editor Macaroni Kid Clifton-Montclair July 26, 2023

The first thing that is of most interest when someone moves to our area is what are the best playgrounds! When I moved here I remember my daughter was so young I wanted to know which parks had easy parking, baby swings, bathroom options, what times they were least crowded, and which ones had the least amount of open ledges that my kids could potentially fall from. When I had my second, I remember wanting to find out which parks were small enough to keep my eyes on both kids running in separate directions and which were "contained" with a fence. Now that my kids are getting older, I am curious about which playgrounds have "older kid options". Knowing that many parents will be interested too. Kids always surprise us and my kids came up with identifying each park with a specific nickname which we provided just for fun. We also have your Guide to the Closest Splashpads and Spray Parks.
